Peach Days and Corn Nights

So, this past weekend was Peach Days in Brigham. My parents usually recruit us kids to help out in the Scuba Shack. For those of you who don't know, the Box Elder County Search and Rescue Scuba Team sells "Scuba Burgers" during Peach Days to raise money for new equipment and such. My mom is the president of the team, so we all get the luxury of helping. Morgan is new to this wonderful experience, but he's a good sport. Luckily for him (and me) he had to work on Saturday, so we got to skip out on helping this year. We went up to Brigham on Friday night after Morgan got home from work and visited with my parents and grandparents who got recruited to help with the corn. Lucky them!! We got our usual free burgers and corn and of course peach cobbler, then Morgan decided we were going to take a walk so he could see what Peach Days was really about. We walked around the booths until we decided we'd had enough. I think our walk lasted a whole 20 minutes or so. Morgan was done. Unfortunately we missed the car show on Saturday....he would've really liked that. Instead, we got to work on the barn and get all the lights installed and I worked on finishing our bed. My dad told us where they got the corn for Peach Days, and we HAD to have some! We went to the little fruit stand and took all they had....60 ears for $10, not bad in my book!! On Sunday, my lovely mother-in-law shucked all that wonderful corn (I HATE the bugs that you find in corn, therefore, I HATE shucking it!) and we proceeded to blanch it and put it in freezer bags so we can have it later this year. I am new to the canning world and have found out why I've put it off for so long....it's so messy! But it will pay off. Well, that's about it for now....stay tuned for picts of our new bed! Ah, Yellowstone

It's been almost two weeks since we've been home and I already want to go back. To wake up and be able to breathe the fresh clean air, to hear the wildlife and to SEE the wildlife. I am not sure I have seen so many stars at night. And the gysers...although they smell like my hubby after Taco Bell, they are such an amazing site. The water on some of them is so clear! The blue looks like the ocean down in those exotic places we all dream of. Guess we'll have to wait until next year to enjoy the wonders of Yellowstone.
